Nina Humphreys notable credits

Nina Humphreys is an award-winning composer for feature film and tv drama. Recognised for lyrical, dark and quirky scores, her pan-genre credIts range from emotive character-led stories for contemporary and period settings to psychological drama, thriller/horror, sci-fi, crime and comedy. All her scores seek to bring a distinctive mood and flavour specific to each story and personal to every character.

Nina’s musical style ranges from large orchestral, melodic, sometimes sweeping arrangements to contemporary electronica and sparse sound design; enjoying the collaborative process that comes with every commission. Learning, discovering and experimenting are some of her core values.

After studying at Exeter and Bournemouth Universities (Bmus/MA in screen music) Nina first came to the attention of producers when working on Jimmy McGovern’s gritty contemporary drama, THE LAKES II. Not long after, she scored William’s Boyd’s adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s WWII trilogy, SWORD OF HONOUR (starring Daniel Craig), winning the RTS Award for ‘Best Original Score’.

Nina has appeared on Film Music panels and given talks / masterclasses for Royal College of Music, City University, Anglia-Ruskin University, Bournemouth University, Short Sounds Film Festival and Brighter Sound’s Film Music Residency (Leeds).

She has been on various Film & Music Awards Juries ; Gold Badge Awards, Music & Sound Awards, and multiple times for BAFTA, RTS and The Ivor Novellos. She is also a full member of BAFTA, The Alliance for Women in Film & TV and The Ivors Academy.
